📤 How to Share Your Video
A simple guide to uploading and sharing files via Google Drive
Step 1: Upload Your File to Google Drive
Open your web browser and go to drive.google.com
Sign in with your Google account (Gmail email and password). If you don't have one, create a free Google account first.
Once you're in Google Drive, look at the left side or top — click the blue + New button (it's usually near the top left).
From the menu that pops up, choose File upload.
Find the file on your computer, select it, and click Open.
Wait for the upload to finish — you'll see a small progress circle in the bottom right. When it's done, the file appears in your main Drive list (or in "My Drive").
Step 2: Share the File So Anyone with the Link Can View and Download It
In Google Drive, find the file you just uploaded.
Right-click on the file (or click the three dots ⋮ next to it), then select Share (or Share +).
• A "Share with people and groups" window pops up.
In that window, look toward the bottom for the section called General access (it might say "Restricted" by default — meaning only you or specific people can access it).
Click the down arrow ▼ next to "Restricted".
Choose Anyone with the link.
• This is the key setting — it means no Google sign-in required; just the link lets people in.
Next to "Anyone with the link", there's another dropdown (it defaults to "Viewer").
• Keep it as Viewer. This lets people open/view the file and download it, but they cannot edit, comment, or make changes.
• (If you pick "Commenter" they can add comments; "Editor" lets them change it — avoid those unless needed.)
Click Copy link (it's usually at the bottom or top right of that section).
The link is now on your clipboard — you can paste it into an email, text message, chat, website, etc.
Click Done to close the window.
✅ Now anyone who gets that link can:
- Click it → see/open the file in their browser
- Download it (there's usually a Download button at the top right when they open it)
💡 Quick Tips:
• Test it yourself: Paste the link into an incognito/private browser window (or send it to a friend) to make sure it works without signing in.
• Downloads are allowed by default when set to "Viewer" — people can save the file to their device. (You can disable downloads in advanced settings if needed, but for most cases, leave it on.)
